    Frequently Asked Questions for FlashPass

    • I purchased and registered my Flash Pass program buy when run it says:  ”Flash Pass has expired.”
      • Make sure you are running the latest version.  Older versions called “Betas” have an expiration date.
      • Before installing a new version Un-Install any previous version.
         
    •  I have purchased Flash Pass.  Where do I download Flash Pass program ?  Your website only shows “Download the Free Trial” ?
      • The “demo” and the “real” program are the same thing.  When you purchase and register the “demo” it becomes your Flash Pass program for good.  In other words, there is only one version of our program.
         
    • On how many computers can I install FlashPass with a single license key?
      • You may install on several computers as as long as all of them belong to you and use the same eApis sender ID.
      • Your license key will lock FlashPass to your sender ID.
         
    • If I download a new version of Flash Pass with I loose my Persons and other Data ?
      • The program and your data are located in different folders within your computer.  Donwloading and installing a new version will not erase any data.  It is very important to UN-INSTALL any previous version before upgrading.  Make sure to erase any shortcuts as well.
    • If I have another computer with Flash Pass, how can I share my Data ?
      • Use the SHARE menu in Flash Pass to export ONE or ALL of your contacts in the “persons” section.   Email them to the other computer and import them with the SHARE menu. 

    • Will you have a commercial license available that will allow me to register once and have multiple eApis sender ID’s with one license ?
      • We are working on a solution for this, please contact us for more details. It is very possible, but you will need to purchase at least 10 licenses (for each sender ID) up front.
         
    • Will you have an iPhone APP or a WEB APP ?
      • We are working on it, but we can’t promise anything at this point. If it happens we will provide an easy and cost effective upgrade path for our current users, so the money you spend now on FlashPass license will allow you to upgrade if you wish in the future to the iPhone and/or online (web) version of FlashPass, if and when that comes.
         
    • What will my license include, in terms of upgrades?
      • It will include all bug fixes and updates to the CBP eApis spec. Basically minor fixes and enhancements (Example: From version 1.0 to 1.5). Major releases will require an upgrade fee, but we don’t have anything in scope for major upgrade at this point, and we have many features to implement as minor releases.
          
    • In the Aircraft section I am trying to add Operator and Owner but I cannot input any data.  Field appears blank.
      • Operators and Owners have to be added in the “Persons” section before you can select them from the Operator and Owner fields in the “Aircraft” section.
         
    • Is this legal?
      • 100% legal. We worked hard with CBP during development to ensure data integrity and we have fully implemented CBP’s specs and rules in our software.
         
    • Can you send a virus to CBP by sending an XML file to them?
      • Short answer:  NO!  Text documents that don’t have macros or get executed by a computer cannot contain viruses or malware.  Don’t worry about this.
         
    • Can I try before I buy?
      • Absolutely, download FlashPass and install it on your computer. You will have a fully functional software for a few weeks. After this trial period you should purchase a license in order for the software to continue running on your computer. If you don’t like it, simply uninstall it.
         
    • On what platforms does it run?
      • Windows and Mac.  Windows XP or Vista. Any MAC with OSX will be fine.
         
    • Do I need to be a PayPal member to buy Flash Pass ?
      • You can pay using a credit card.  When directed to PayPal look for the option that says and click:  “Don’t have a PayPal Account?”
         
    • What if I haven’t received my key and I placed my order more than 48 hours ago.
      • Please contact us. We usually send your keys in a couple of hours. 48 should be more than what we usually take, unless its a weekend. But please contact us to let us know your key hasn’t arrived yet. 
    • When I run Flash Pass the main program screen does not appear  but the windows taskbar shows Flash Pass running.
      • Windows has a small bug that “looses” the position of the Flash Pass window.   To fix this issue you should un-install your current Flash Pass and install the newest version from our website.
    • How do I send a manifest to CBP’s website using Flash Pass ?
      • Sending a manifest is a two step process.   When you have completed your manifest click on the FILE menu and select:  “Make eAPIS XML File” and save it to your desktop.
      • Enter CBP’s website and select the UPLOAD option to send your XML file.  Make sure you check your email for CBP’s confirmation after submitting.

    • I am using the Flash Pass DEMO and when I send the manifest I do not get CBP’s confirmation email.
      • Open Flash Pass and go to Preferences.  Make sure your eAPIS Sender ID is provided and try again.
      • Make sure you do not use any special characters in your manifest.  For example:  CBP does not like the ampersand (&) character.  Use the “and” word instead.
      • Once you purchase and register Flash Pass your Sender ID will be locked in place.
